Lac Desire brings you to the Marne department of the Champagne region of France only 240 miles / 3.30 hrs from the ports at Calais. Completely surrounded by woodland this beautiful 40 acre estate is completely fenced and secure. The lake is spring fed, 16 acres in size, very mature and was originally excavated for gravel in the seventies. It has many features including gravel bars, plateaux's and silt areas in depths ranging from 3ft to 8ft. Fourteen comfortable swims have been prepared, two with disabled access and they have been positioned mainly around the centre of the lake (in the shape of a horse shoe) creating a perfect but at the same time private social holiday venue. With a max of ten anglers each week this leaves the choice of 4 swims should you require a move during your stay. The carp stock consists of an impressive 2.5 ton of quality, fast growing, young Royale strain of Mirrors, Commons and Grass Carp up to 54lb, with plenty of fish in the 30 and 40 pound range, which have been introduced to the original stock that is previously unknown and never fished for! There is also a small pond to the side of the main lake which has been stocked with a hand picked strain of Carp, in November 2007 a further stocking of Common's & Mirror's 115 x 20's, 40 x 30's and a couple more 40 to 46lbs have been added to boost our existing stock which also includes grasses up to 37lb and a handful of Cat's up to 80lbs. In January we also added 30 more Carp up to 30lbs. With our ongoing stocking programme we aim to make Lac Desire an excellent runs water. |
